Conduct of workshop on Autism

As part of Autism Day celebrations, Seva Bharathi (R.) Mangalore organized a workshop on “Autism Uncovered: Causes, Symptoms and Solutions” on 6th April 2026 at the Auditorium of Chethana school. The program was inaugurated by watering a plant by Dr. Rajesh, MBBS, MD, Ph.D., the Assistant Professor (Psychiatry), Yenepoya Medical College. Addressing the gatherings he stated that autism is not a disease, it is a developmental disability, for which now a days effective treatments are available. He continued that every autistic person has different symptoms and it is necessary to understand them to encourage their families.

Sri H Nagaraj Bhat, Hon. secretary of Seva Bharati welcomed the guests. Kumari Anjana Joy, Professor & Consultant of Psychiatric and Mrs. Shwetha Ashok Shetty, Coordinator, Yenepoya Medical College, Mrs. Ravikala R Shetty, Head of the Unit, Navachetana Communication Development Centre were present on the dias. Ms. Varsha compered the program and Ms. Ranjitha Rakesh proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr. Rajesh and his team conducted the workshop in 3 sessions, in which 52 special teachers from 13 special schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm.
