In order to update on latest developments supporting the children of special needs, Seva Bharathi ® Mangalore organized a one day workshop on 8th April 2023 at the event Hall of Chetana school on the subject “Communication Training – How and when?”. The program was meant for the teachers working in special schools of undivided Dakshina Kannada district. Dr. Jayashree S Bhat, Ph.D, M.Sc.(Sp. & Hg.), MA(Psy.), Audiologist, Speech & Language Pathologist and swallowing Therapist, K M C Mangaluru was the Resource person in the workshop. In the inaugural session, the representative of Seva Bharathi® Shri B Prakash Pai stated that the workshop is to train and update the teachers on the base issues in their work area so that they could utilize training knowledge in normalizing the challenged children as also to educate their parents in the right way. During the session, the resource person explained the minute aspects of the ‘language’ and ‘communication’ with reference to ‘special children’ by quoting live examples. In group presentation, discussion and interaction, participants took part actively and interestingly. Totally, 70 teachers from 30 special schools attended and they were issued with participation certificates.

Navachetana Communication Development Centre observed ‘World Autism Day’ on ‘2nd April 2023’. In a function organized at the premises of Chetana school, Dr. Jyashree S Bhat, Ph.D, M.Sc.(Sp. & Hg.), MA(Psy.), Audiologist, Speech & Language Pathologist and swallowing Therapist, K M C Mangaluru inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp and spoke on the background of observing World Autism Day. Dr. Kushala Shetty, Department of Dentistry of A J Institute Mangaluru also spoke on the importance of celebrating World Autism Day. Smt. Sumathi V Shenoy, President, and Shri H Nagaraj Bhat, Hon. Secretary of Seva Bharathi®, Smt. Ravikala Shetty, Unit Head, Navachetana Communication Development Centre were present on the dais. Children of the Navachetana performed cultural programs on the stage. Shri P Vinod Shenoy of Seva Bharathi, Smt. Suprita, Head Mistress of Chetana school, Doctors team from A J Institute, parents of the children, teachers and volunteers were present in the program.

The children of Roman & Catherine Lobo Residential School for Visually Impaired will always remember M/S Bolas Agro Pvt. Ltd. for donating a Children Park to the school.

In a function held on 31.3.2023 evening, Shri Calistus Desa, Principal welcomed the gathering. The school children after presenting the invocation, welcomed the invitees offering the flowers, prepared by them. Shri Bola Damodar Kamth, the MD of M/S Bolas Agro Pvt. Ltd inaugurated the park accompanying with his family members. Shri Nagaraj Bhat, Hon. Secy. & Shri Vinod Shenoy, Treasurer, , Shri Gajanana Pai, Shri Ashwathama Rao , the trustees of Sevabharathi, Shri Ketan Vasani and Shri Ketana chand, the trustees of Roman & Catherine Lobo charity Trust, volunteers and well-wishers were presence during the occasion. Shri Gajanan Pai proposed vote of thanks.

Anantha Soukhya conducted a cardiac check up camp on 12.03.2023. Dr. Padmanabh Kamath, Professor and HOD of Cardiology, KMC, Mangalore and his team conducted the camp. While inaugurating the camp, Dr. Kamath stated that it is his first camp experience which he attended exclusively for senior citizens. He fully appreciated the efforts put forth by Anantha Soukhya in extending excellent services to the senior citizens on regular intervals.

Blood sugar test, Blood pressure and ECG test were administered and the reports were examined by the doctors. The camp was a grand success, as all the medical attendants and citizen attended the camp were much impressed and expressed their appreciation. Out of 115 persons attended the camp, 32 persons were directed to undergo further tests like ECHO, TMT, Lipid Profile, BDRC, EECP etc. Mangalore Senior Citizens Association (MSCA) has come forward to meet the expenses towards these tests.

Chetana Child Development Centre observed 74th Republic Day Celebration on 26th January 2023 at the School premises. Shri Suresh Pai, eminent Civil Engineer unfurled the national flag. Addressing the gathering, he briefed the importance of the day. Chetana school children presented cultural events including singing and dancing. Trustees of Seva Bharathi, Headmistress and staff, Volunteers and well wishers were present during the occasion. The function concluded with Vande Mataram followed by sweet distribution.

The Chetana Child Developmental Centre celebrated it’s ‘Annual Day’ on 23.12.2022 evening at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall, Mangalore. Smt. Poornima, Deputy Mayor, Mangalore City Corporation presided over the function, in her address lauded the decade long efforts put by the Chetana School in bringing smiles in the faces of divyang and their parents. She appealed the public to support such efforts through giving opportunities to divyang community. Shri Balakrishna Kottari, Trustee, Shri Nagakannika Durga Parameshwari Temple Derebail, Konchadi, Mangalore the Chief Guest spoke on the occasion that it is duty of one and all to treat the divyang children as privileged one and try to bring out hidden talents in them which is honestly done by Chetana School.

School teacher Smt. Savita welcomed the gathering and Head mistress read out the school report of the academic year. Variety entertainment, especially ‘Tulunada Siri’ depicting the cultural features of Dakshina Kannada, staged by involvement of all the divyang children of the school has been appreciated by the audience. Founder Trustees of Seva Bharathi Smt. Sumathi V Shenoy and Shri U V Shenoy, Secretary Shri H Nagaraj Bhat , Treasurer Shri Vinod Shenoy, other Trustees, Volunteers, well wishers, Teaching and non teaching staff, parents gathered in large number. School teacher Smt.Deepa Mohan proposed vote of thanks. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
